Chris Telfer is a longtime Central Oregon resident embarking on a run for the Oregon State Senate, District 27, which serves Deschutes County.   Chris comes from  a family of long time public officials, civil servants, and volunteers.  Chris is currently serving her second term on the Bend City Council and prides herself as a voice of reason and common sense.

Her reasons for running for State Senate as a Republican are vast, yet purposeful.  She has seen the changes and growth over the 31 years she's lived in Bend.  Chris believes that the state budget is in disarray and our roads and highways have needs that are going unaddressed in Salem.  Those of us who live and work in Redmond, Bend, Sisters, and LaPine all depend on state highways to move from home to work or to the grocery store  These days that is not easy.

Common sense is lacking and there is little to no reasoning and look whre that is taking us.  Our state's budget is growing faster than our ability to pay for it.  Specifically, spending is growing twice as fast as most people's paychecks.  Families can't budget like that and neither can our state.

Chris also feels that we need to be proactive about our healthcare situation.  Rather than making decisions in Washington DC and Salem, the power to control costs needs to come back to the local level.  She is proud to be active with the Central Oregon Health Collaborative and its focus on local affordability and coverage for those without basic health care or whose only health care is taking place in the emergency room.

I encourage you to learn more about Chris and make an informed decision at the time of the elections.  Chris promises to be the voice of reason, your voice in Salem.
